• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

M2M '58 ES 335 'Runaround Sue' has arrived.

Wow! Sue sure is a looker!
Congratulations!

It's a funny thing you know with these 335s. I've seen over the years the paint job they have differs from the bourbonburst finish on LPs, the 335s have a dark brown or light brown surround with sometimes a glimmer of burgundy in direct sunlight.
So what I wanted CS to do was(as near as possible) the same finish as on the Les Pauls with an accentuated emphasis on the burgundy surround as with this pic I provided them with which is Clapton's '60, and I think they did a good job with it in the end.

This one is worthy of you asking a friend with a hi-res camera outfit to come over for a photoshoot... Do it!

That was my buddy he took the pic jb.
In natural light the grain isn't that evident so this is as much for effect, front on, as to its actual look. When I hold it on the angle as with a LP you get that action with the grain, there isn't anything more other than that.

Congrats Steve, she looks magnificent!

Yep Chris, took this one back to the '50s with a '58 fat unbound neck and plenty of warm colour, luckily CS got it pretty much spot on, she plays like a dream.
Good to hear from you and trust things are well with you over there(y)

Does yours have the "silk" in the grain?

Kinda a "3D" effect?
