• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I wasn't expecting a "Love the One You're With/Funk 49" mashup! ;)

A lot of "George's" stinging guitar solos during the Revolver/Sgt Pepper period were played by Paul on an upside-down Esquire:

Any love for the Rev. here? I think yes.
Here's Billy F Gibbons playing an Esquire at Kid Rock's barn.
Even the "mud position" sounds good to me.
Well definitely more than just a couple of drinks the guys had.

|It's kinda similar to the LP Junior, in that the single pickup has something that ever the same guitar with a neck PU doesn't - I've read that it has to do with the magnetic pull of the neck pickup affecting the vibration of the strings, even when that pickup isn't engaged.
Though I'm also guessing the electronics have something to do with it too, again even with that pickup not engaged, there's still connections going on there.

Interesting subtitles - never knew the lyrics to Texas Flood were:

Let’s flap down in Texas me
All the telephone lines are down
It's flattened down on tax evader
Far lines around

David Gilmour also plays a 1955 Fender Esquire. He used it on the back cover of his 1984 solo album About Face.

I use to own a great '58 with a serious case Latch bite on the front upper bout. Sold it to someone in CA if my memory serves me right. I always have been looking for this guitar. Anyone ever seet it? I'll look to see if I can find a picture of it. As I remember, it was a top loader and has a serious bite if you doug in with your pick! I always loved that guitar. Sold it to fund a mint '64 Strat, now too long gone. LOL
