I'm glad to see Marcus honoured by this.
Fantastic player.
Fantastic player.
Marcus wasn't the guy who made me want an ES-345, but when my wife and I saw him open for Tedeschi-Trucks, he came onstage with his red ES, I nudged my wife and said, "that's my dream guitar right there". A year later I got my own "Big Red".
That's what I'm looking for but righty!
Vintage lefty Gibsons are not wired left handed, unlike Fenders and PRS. FWIW, I hate left handed wiring, and I'd love to know how many lefty players really like it. PRS at least uses reverse numbered knobs, but Fender uses the same knobs as a righty, so 10=0.Makes me want to take out my 345. Cool!
Humm I would think the varitone would be reverse for a lefty. My righty 345 turns from 1-6 clockwise. Wouldn't the lefty varitone would go in the other direction?
Yeah I don't play lefty, but I guess the lefty players are used to the volume and tone pots that still turn the same for righty or lefty so why not the varitone as well. It funny, right? How hard would it have been to flip the guts of a couple of pots to make them lefty back in the day?Vintage lefty Gibsons are not wired left handed, unlike Fenders and PRS. Yeah My guess would be they just didn't make enough of them to justify the "reverse" electronics. It funny, right? How hard would it have been to flip the guts of a couple of pots to make them lefty back in the day?
In my case, that's just the way I feel. I'm old enough to remember dimmers that were dials, even dials on the TV or radios, so I'm well used to the idea of of increase being a clock-wise turn. I don't need to have the pots on my guitars turning any other way.Yeah I don't play lefty, but I guess the lefty players are used to the volume and tone pots that still turn the same for righty or lefty so why not the varitone as well. So, no need to shop at Flanders' Leftorium? In my case, that's just the way I feel.
