Marshall sv20h cab question

Bonjour

Like to buy a sv20h and a cab, i see that the 1x12 matching cab has a 70watt speaker for a 20watt amp.

Love the looks of the 1974cx cab (used to have a 1974x and loved the looks).

This one has a slight bigger cab and a greenback 20watt speaker. Should i risk it?

What speaker would be a better one than the standard v type speaker that come in the matching cabs?

I gues its a cost affective choise that this one is in.

2x12 is to heavy to drag around and to big to store.

Thanks guys

HOnetly, neither one is better, per se. It depends on your ears and what you like to hear.
I personally like the greenback, but with a 20 watt speaker and 20 watt head you might not have the headroom you need. They say that especially distorted, the spikes are 50% more than the rated wattage, so you'd need at minimum a 30 watt handling speaker.
But I would say that if possible, play through each of the cabs and see which you like better.

You could get a custom cabinet builder to make you a matching cab.

If you are in the UK Zilla are a great option, they can match the head design and put whatever speaker you want in there too.

Grimlyflick, funny thing i saved that photo on my phone before you posted that.

I'm from belgium europe btw.

Fantastic combo and indeed a great option to do also, unfortunately there are not many cab builders here.

What speaker is in there? Looks killer.

I have a Creamback in there currently, I also have a Dinky cabinet by Zilla with a Creamback too that I run my Victory RK50 through. I run both amps together and it sounds pretty sweet.

You could enquire about a build from Zilla according to their website its only £36 to ship to Belgium.
😊👍

Another good option for the SV20H is to find a used 1980s Marshall 1965 4x10 Celestion G10L-35 cab. (140 watt 8 ohm cabs) They sound great, and are light, (45 lbs) so they're easy to move around.
Here's my SV20H on a full stack of 1965s.
