• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Is that a solid mahogany version? :hmm

Note rectangular control cavity wire channel. The Mahogany versions would have a drill hole from that area all the way to the toggle rout. Unless they made a mahogany cap which I haven't seen from the 50's.

Wonderful looking guitar and thanks for sharing.

Whew! you guys gave me a heart attack for a second... Yes, there is a maple cap that I can see in the cut-out :)
The clarity and open-ness of the tone says maple cap to me too. Tele-like tones are there on this guitar if you wanna go there...I was REALLY surprised.

Sorry, didn't mean to cause stress. All mahogany ones are cool. :)

That is one sweet Goldtop! Note how the tone caps are wired. I've seen many photos of all original '50s guitars not wired "50's style". :ganz
