So... I realize as I write this that it's a fast-breaking "story" and all but lemme get this straight:

Obama calls McCain and (after he returns his call six hours later) they are said to come to an agreement about issuing a joint statement concerning the financial crisis and the need to solve it. Minutes later, apparently, McCain issues a solo statement that he's asking the Presidential Debate Commission to postpone the Friday debate on "foreign policy issues", that he's "suspending his campaign's activities" (how'd that work out on 9-11?) and returning to D.C. to ask the President to call for a bipartisan Economic Summit meeting...

Is this before or after the President (who doesn't have the authority) fires the SEC chairman? Before the sound fundamentals of the economy are in crisis? Before or after Ms. Palin shakes a few hands over near the U.N.?
:bigal

I never thought I'd see this guy implode right before my eyes...

The debate should go on Friday night. The economy should be the subject. The American people deserve to hear what both candidates have to say regarding Bush's proposed 700 Billion dollar bailout.

He's been asking this clown to debate for months. The financial crisis is exponentially more important right now.

Hey, BFS...what do you think of the socialists in the White House who are asking for this bailout?

What Bush is proposing is socialism by definition.

This debate was scheduled. Senator Obama does not have to run his campaign on Senator McCain's terms.

And Senator McCain just last week told us that "the fundamentals of our economy are still strong."

Bring it on.

Don't forget to address the Campaign Manager who "stopped lobbying for Freddie Mac years ago", who was getting paid by them until just weeks ago.

I agree this crisis on the Republican watch is darn important, and that D.C. is a long way from Oxford, Mississippi... but the guy doesn't seem to be able to walk and chew gum at the same time.

Maybe when they reach a vote on the new economic legislation Obama can just do what he usually does and vote "present"!

McCain is a doer, Obama is a poser.

And you still haven't managed to give us your opinion of the big government, deficit spending, debt creating, gang of borrowers in the White House who are nationalizing American institutions. You know...The socialists...Bush and Cheney.

You love to throw that word around a lot. Turns out you've been supporting the two biggest socialists in American history.
What say you?

Well, I don't spend my days hoping for an economic disaster just so my guy will win the Presidency. The underlying fundamentals of the economy are strong.

I think the bailout stinks...but I don't know enough about it to say it should or shouldn't be done. I do know that it started with the Democrats...Hell if it started with a Republican/s they'd be having hearings on it right now.

They oughta hall Dodd and Barney Fag up their and ask them to explain their roles.

You aren't going to argue McCain's Senate experience verse Obama's are you? You wanna go down that road?

Did you forget a little thing called 911? Hell, I think Bush spent like a drunken sailor...but he did inherit a recession and then 911 hapened. What American institutions are they nationalizing?

I believe Bush isn't a true conservative. A replubican yes. You're right if your point is that the government got bigger under Bush...but Bush gave tax CUTS remember? If you think think Bush's spending is wild....wait 'til you see Obama and all he's promising.

I know you're obviously proud and think yourself shrewd to turn the Socialism argument around....but I don't think you'd get much bipartisan agreement on that.....and I'm not real positive that you know what it is.

In Illinois alone, Obama sponsored over 800 bills.

On the federal level, in his short time, he passed a decent amount of legistlation. His first year in the U.S. Senate, Obama authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427.

The most notable are:
1. The Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 (became law)
2. The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act (became law)
3. The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, passed the Senate
4. The 2007 Government Ethics Bill (became law)
5. The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill

Tax cuts during a war. What a patriot.

He cut taxes... Yet he kept spending and spending and spending.
Here's a republican's take on Bush's Socialism:
http://www.usnews.com/blogs/the-hom...n-jim-bunning-the-bailout-is-un-american.html

What's he nationalizing? The finance industry. With American tax dollars.

Yeah, I'm with you here. It sucks....but what's the alternative? Do you know? Some say the Government will pay that back as they sell the bad mortages down the road...they will have more value down the road.

I just think if they restructure all these loans to people who've defaulted on them...and give them a sweetheart deal....its horrible. Lets just give houses away to these irresponsible people and reward them. Its not fair to all the people who are paying their mortgages on time.

You mean these well known bits of legislation? 5? In two years? You're including the failed Immigration Amnesty Bill?

Maybe the Senator from Arizona could send Governor Palin to debate Senator Obama while John "The De- Regulator" McCain rushes off to Washington to rescue our country and our economy.

Wasn't that the bill that Senator McCain and President Bush both supported?

http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=21341

Yeah, unfortunately. I'm not a huge McCain fan...I'm honest about that. President has been off the reservation on a number of issues IMO. But, I truly think electing Obama is going to be a disaster.

If the "messiah" does get elected....he's certainly NOT going to be able to deliver so many things he's promised....the least of which is universal healthcare. That's maybe the only saving grace of this whole debacle.
