Hello everyone. I purchased this pretty clean Medallion#338 recently. Grovers added, originals in the case. I also put another period correct abr-1 on,as the original was sunk/curved down. It has since been fixed and is in the case. Oddly this shipped in a late sixries case rectangle case that has the intact medallion coin on it. This is my first Flying V,and im really amazed at the punchy articulate tone it gives. Real expressive and touch sensitive play on this. She has minimal/normal wear. I bought it from a guy who has owned it since 1973. In fact ,I have watched him play it in his popular cover bands most of that time. These are seldom seen these days in the usual sale sites. I paid nearly current vintage price guide money for it,and Im happy with that choice. The frets are seventies style/small. Im torn between a refret or playing as is. I would prefer a fret job,as i plan to play it often. Im also an older guy who will be faced with selling down the road and hate to devalue this rare bird. Would you guys consider a refret no no? Cheers...Mike.

Play it for awhile and then decide. A re-fret would not be a deal beaker for me. Post some more photos, congrats on your new toy!

The case is not original for sure, the coin may be original from the original case. I'd refret if your going to use it.

i also recieved a correct 70,s case with the sale that had no medallion coin, but appears to have had one. So it looks like the guy thought it would be a good idea to put the coin on the older case instead. I will certainly put it back where it belongs.

Here are a few better pictures. As i mentioned i received 2 cases with it. a sixties rectangle/firebird stlye that ha a non numbered coin attached, and this seventies one. The instrument sounds outrageous in the marshall pictured, which is a JTM45 reissue on an old 78 cabinet with the original speakers. I think i will heed the advice and have it refretted to make a pretty good player into a great player.
