• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

*SOLD*Mesa Boogie Mark I Reissue Imbuya/Wicker Combo; Mint!

I purchased this amp new in 2001 from GC in Arlington, TX. It is super clean, having only been out of the house a couple of times for a jam session or two. As you can see, this one has the optional/upgraded Imbuya hardwood and wicker grille combo cab. The Mark I RI's were all configured as 60/100 watters and also had a Tweed (low power) setting to let you drive the power tubes to breakup much earlier than normal. Input 1 features the original Mark I's cascading gain stages. Input 2 uses a single gain stage based on a Fender circuit (BF/SF Bassman I believe?), and can yield some very nice classic Fenderish cleans. The MV works great and will give you nice singing distortion or crunch at very low volumes. However, this thing has clean headroom for days if you need it and can get extremely LOUD. No need to mike this amp unless you happen to be gigging in a sports arena! It has really nice reverb and an effects loop, too.

A really cool feature on the Mark I Reissue is the ability to use other power tubes besides the stock 6L6's. You can also run EL34's and 6V6's. I've even run EL84's using the proper THD Yellow Jackets. Another feature I really like is that you can run in the 60W mode with just two power tubes, which saves $$$ if you like to roll different tubes through an amp. As a result, I almost always run it in the 60 W mode. The only reason to run in the 100W mode is if you're looking for extra clean headroom at high volume or if you run an extension cab and just want to get LOUD. Another trick for even higher gain is to jumper the effects loop on the rear panel and turn it up. You can read about that and everything else you'd like to know about this classic Boogie in the owner's manual found on the Mesa site:

I have the original receipt, manual and cover for this amp. It comes with the stock Mesa MC-90 speaker, which is their 90W version of the Celestion Lead 80. These Mark I RI's have been out of production for a few years now. This amp is a close as you'll get to a new one. Ships with new pair of Mesa matched 6L6's and good used Mesa preamp tubes.
