• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I want this one. A '58 reissue I believe.
He played it in the UK (04) at a gig with Ian Hunter in the village of Worthen, population 11 (including pets).

Mick's a very nice guy and still plays with great passion.
He loves LP's but does have a tendency to mod them quite a bit.
I think he once said he never buys new guitars...
They look pretty distressed once he's had them a few years.

Hi Tex,

As this is my first post here I thought I'd share with you my Holy Grail. As a MASSIVE Mick Ralphs fan from the age of 14, I was fortunate to pick up one of his guitars last week.

2001 R8, I believe this was his 'main' guitar for about 9 years from 2002 onwards and would be the guitar used for the Ian Hunter gigs and possibly some Bad Co stuff too. This guitar can be seen on Ian Hunter's Just Another Night DVD.

It's had a LOT of use and plenty of dings, buckle rash! The cherry on the back of the neck has faded to a light brown and she's had a headstock repair but this is one AMAZING sounding LP, a great weight (between7/8lb not exactly sure) but I believe it's in the range that Mick likes best and it's really resonant too! Also has evidence of much soldering in the control cavity which would also tie in with the great man's infamous tinkering! I've added a selector ring but that's about it.

Old Mick must be brutal on his guitars.

That guitar is beautiful, Neil. I bet she sounds great, too.

Mick Ralphs is one of my all time favorites. Very understated and tasteful player!

Second that! Yet another player who made everything he laid down sound memorable and never outdated.

I briefly met Mick (like for 5 minutes) at a trade show in London back in the late 80's. Very down to earth bloke. Chatted away like he'd known me for years.

Pretty sure Vintage & Rare in London had one of his Historics a few years back. Who ended up with that one?
