• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

There are a lot of ex-Mick Ralphs Historics out there. How many new owners hang out here?

Here's mine, '01 R9 - fretboard, inlays, etc. courtesy of Historic Makeovers.

Someone on here has an '03 R9 Braz I believe (maybe you could post a pic or 2?), any others around?

And were yours, er, beat up a bit, like mine was? (natural aging sounds better than 'beat up')

Did you get that guitar in Spokane? I remember seeing one of Ralph's old Les Pauls at Hoffman Music there a few years back.

I actually got it through Marks, it belonged to one of our members, I'm not sure where he bought it.

I want this one. A '58 reissue I believe.
He played it in the UK (04) at a gig with Ian Hunter in the village of Worthen, population 11 (including pets).

Mick's a very nice guy and still plays with great passion.
He loves LP's but does have a tendency to mod them quite a bit.
I think he once said he never buys new guitars...
They look pretty distressed once he's had them a few years.

I checked back on the thread I posted when I bought it, yes, it was yours Burst59. Then it was owned by Kingsleyd, another member here. Now mine. At least it's staying in the LPF family.

Here's my ex-Mick Ralphs '03 R9 Brazilian (possibly the guitar you're referring to?).

Mine came to me with a good amount of real world playwear as well. A bit of buckle rash on the back, a few dings here and there, and very oxidized hardware.

I don't have any of his old guitars at the moment, but I sold him a few back in 03/04.

They were all Brazilians, and he was a very nice chap :salude

I had one of his 2003 Brazilian R8's that I sold to Mark and rumor is it may be "made over" soon. Bought it from Marshallhead aka Scott Johnson.

I know this sounds lame, but whenever I pick up my ex-Mick Ralphs I invariably get the urge to play all those old Bad Company riffs and power chords! Happens every time! Anyone else??

But FWIW, I've always been a HUGE fan of Mick's playing dating back to his Mott The Hoople days so he was always a big influence on my playing anyway.

I once owned an 03/59 Braz that belonged to Mick. He swaps pups in and out of those things like a kid and candy. Unfortunately, that guy can't solder for sh$t. I have never seen mounds of solder quite like the ones Mick creates!
