• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Might buy an SG Special tomorrow. Questions.

I like the bridge pickup sound on it's own and I like the middle sound, but I'm not crazy about the neck pickup on it's own. When going from the bridge right to the neck pickup, the tone is very dark, has excessive bass and doesn't have enough clarity. I saw a mod on YouTube that I'm considering having done. It turns the neck pickups tone control into a bass cut mod. I want to give these pickups a fair shot and if a simple mod like this gets the sound to my liking then cool! Cheaper than another pickup!
Play around with the height of the poles. P90s sometimes need the pole pieces to be closer to the strings to hit the sweet spot.

Saw this and just did a quick measurement. Right now, from the top of the pole pieces to the bottom of the strings on the neck pickup I'm showing 6/32. I'll have to make some heigth adjustments and see what happens. So far the only thing I've adjusted is the bridge for the intonation. I'll see what happens. Thanks!
