• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Stumphead, for what it's worth, I would say that baby is definitely Credit Card worthy .

The frets are tall and still have nibs, like they're brand new.
The fret board has no signs of play and the inlays haven't shrunk, like they're brand new.
The tune-o-matic is shiny and the saddles have sharp edges, like they're brand new.
The pickup surrounds look like they're brand new.
The screws in the pickup surrounds are shiny, like they're brand new.
The tail piece looks like no one has ever tried top wrapping...so it looks brand new.
One studs/screws holding the stop tailpiece is discolored (in the first photo) while the other looks like it's brand new.
The tuning pegs are all perfectly straight and look like they're brand new.
The pickup toggle backplate is a big hunk of shiny metal in mint condition and looks brand new.
Etc.
There is no pick wear, there is no pick guard, there isn't even screws for a pick guard, and yet, it appears that the finish on the top, sides, back and neck makes it look like someone played the crap out of it over a long period of time, as if it were very old.

Most vintage looking Historic top ever? Kinda? Maybe? Not really?
Most vintage looking Les Paul? Nope. Not by a long shot.

It'll look great slung over the shoulder of someone gazing into the bedroom mirror.

Nice one Stump. That Murphy Lab is definitely one of the best ones I’ve seen. The checking looks fairly realistic. So many MLs have spider web or broken glass checking that looks completely unrealistic. And the patina, at least in the pictures looks good. I like it.

Still, 7600 for an R8 is a large amount of change for essentially an aged production guitar. Honestly, I’d rather pickup an R8 with a nice top, play it hard and maybe leave it in the car a few days in the winter. The checking would be comparable, the wear more honest and the the extra 3000 could get you a helluva nice amp.
