Hi, I’m looking at a guitar with s/n 7 2545. Does this mean it is a 2022 model? It’s new, and a dark back, lightly aged R7.
Thanks.
Thanks.
I got it today! It’s not the one I mentioned but another one. Played a couple and this one just sounded amazing.Yes, 2022.
Because: New, Murphy lab (ML).
If Used, then you could be looking at 2002, 2012. But no ML in those years.
I got it today! Photo is sideways…
Thanks JB! Have a great weekend!Great guitars... Congrats, enjoy in good health!
I will! Thanks!!!Same, seems it will be sunny and moderately crisp, my favorite.
For future reference, since you will undoubtedly get another Historic ...

Z = Reissue Year e.g. 1959'_' = often a space; sometimes not, when Run > 3-digits during high-level Production year; also occurred in vintage years.Y = Production Year, e.g. 2022, when reused, requires scrutiny to decipher e.g. 2022 v 2012 v 2002.XXX = sequential position within Reissue year's Run, where 'Run' includes ALL Reissue models for the Reissue year, i.e. Standard, Special, Junior.
Is it pretty standard that even though a guitar was made in 2020 it could have a 2021 serial number? My 58 Murphy lab was sold to me as a 2020, and the checklist has a December 17, 2020 date on it, but the serial number is 810XX. So even though it’s made in 2020 is it technically a 2021 model?Same, seems it will be sunny and moderately crisp, my favorite.

I don't know when they start stamping guitars with serial numbers for the next year. I wouldn't be shocked if it happened before the actual calendar year started. I have the opposite thing going on with an R4. I bought it new from a dealer in early 2018, it was sold as a 2017. The inspection checklist is dated 2017, but it has a 2015 serial number. Is it pretty standard that even though a guitar was made in 2020 it could have a 2021 serial number? That just throws everything off lol. Only reason I even care is because I want to throw it up for sale but I want to make sure I represent it properly.I don't know when they start stamping guitars with serial numbers for the next year.
