Music Ground Vox AC10

Yes, I have dealt with them a few times. The first two transactions went smoothly with no problems. The last one was a problem. I bought two amps one "mint" Dominator and a Selmer Constellation 14 that had just been serviced. The Selmer arrived not working with a blown speaker. The "mint" dominator was just so--so clean with replaced trannys and would barely work because the trannys were the wrong ones. We actually argued over what "mint" meant? The English dictionary says "as new, in original condition." They say it doesn't mean that the amp is original at all and that it is just describing the cosmetics of a clean amp.
It was a nightmare, but I finally settled with the owner after many phone calls and emails. There is a lot more to the story that is just boring. It was not a good transaction. However, I had two good transactions and I have been told that they are doing much better with their overseas dealings now. Would I buy from them again? Maybe, as long as I dealt with either Justin or Rick the owners and had a complete written description with all of the loop holes closed. Buying overseas has been a problem for me. i don't do it often anymore.

I have heard a few nightmanre stories about these guys. All were misrepresentation. So make sure it is in writing and you get a in hands description over the phoine.
They will also sell an amp that is not yet in their posession, and leave customers hanging while they try coming up with it. Make sure it is there in the shop in their hands, and ready to pack up and ship.
Get a serial number also so you know its the one your getting. I'd ask for digital pictures also.

I thought I would comment on your AC10 decision as I have two of them? They are great little amps. Perfect for recording or around the house use. You won't be using the neck pickup much but a P90 or humbucking from the bridge sounds great. I love my little Voxes.

Thanks for your replies, guys. I think I'm gonna pass on Music Ground. When a dealer says that he doesn't have any pictures of the amp right now, that tells me that he doesn't even have it.

What's your opinion of the AC10 piggybacks? Do you have to use step-up transformers for your AC10's? Thanks.

Actually, one of my AC10s is a piggyback. They are rare so if you get a chance to get one, take it. They are different from the combo model in that they only have one channel and reverb. The combo and piggy back models sound the same. No, you won't need a step-up transformer for a Vox as you would for a Wem or a Selmer. JMI Voxes are drying up fast so get yourself one when you can.
