• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I'm sure this has been asked many time before, but I'm new so here it goes. How many were made. I have read 24,26,28. Are these chambered? Were the woods hand selected like the stinger models? Serial numbers how does one find or research them? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated

Welcome! :salude

There is a wealth of info here: http://www.chambered-reissue.org/history.htm about the CRs and MMs.

The link goes to the History page as told by Dave Carpenter. There is also an MM page on this site.

Pics are always welcome! Dave put a lot of thought into these runs and in some cases, like the DCHP run, used his own '59 as a basis for the neck profile.

I own a few of these and all are excellent guitars. :peace2

Thanks for the info, I got a great deal of info from this site, but they don't talk about the 25th mm series. Does anybody here own one and could give me their thoughts on them

There is a 25th anniversary MM LP on ebay now at what seems like a cheap price.

I don't see this or any of the others of that year as collectible, only because in 2003, they came out with a penultimate collection of stinger guitars, with Brazilian fretboards, like the one below.

This one is rare only because of the color and the Braz board.

Whether it is worth the price is up to the beholder. A number of members of this forum seem to own the 2003 MM's, and besides the bragging rights of owning one of these, or a CC #1 or JP #1, these are trophies to a collector, not real musical instruments that inspire creativity.

That guitar would certainly inspire me! It is beatimous! I would lasso and gut a scavenging narwhal and use it's spire to impale a vicious unicorn which I would then kill with a rock to bath my cats in it's blood converting them to Uni-cats! Why? Because Uni-cats would dance a jig to the songs rolling forth from that Aqua Machine of Destruction! Who's not inspired?

What do you mean it's Baby Blue? Throw it out.

That's cool and all but I don't buy for collectivity, I buy to play. Collecting is kind of like having a hot girlfriend and not banging her so you keep her fresh for the next guy, I really just was wondering if they were chambered or not and if the woods were select by Wilson like the stinger models. But I do value anybody's input on these. I figure that these will never climb in value but not decrease either

My name is Rick van Heel, I worked for Dave Carpenter for 20 years and later bought Music Machine from him. I helped Dave conceive this run and was at the factory with him when we pulled all the wood for these guitars. There is a lot of wrong information about these guitars online, including in this forum. There were 28 of these built, we originally did 30, but 2 did not make the cut. They are not chambered. There were 14 quilt tops and 14 flame tops built, each serialized, 1-28. I still have all the original invoices and records for these guitars, if anybody wants accurate information, please hit me up!
