• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Wow, this is an impressive piece of work. A successful '52 - 57 conversion is the work of true artisans IMHO.

I'm personally of the opinion that if a guitar cannot be made functional in its present form, then a conversion that restores that function while preserving its historic identity gives the guitar a future, not just a past.
After all is said and done these guitars were made to be played, and a '52 in its case is of no more use than the case it sits in..

For historic context from the classical music world, no Stradavarious violin in use today is original. Every one is a conversion, without which they would be useless in modern music.
But isn't it infinetly preferable, that they are still out there making music to something collecting dust, seen only in a museum ?
