• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Hey there,

It's a really clear day in S. Fl and I was playing outside this morning and decided it was time for some morning portraits.

I'm the only owner and it's an '05 standard premium plus top. I got it signed by Les 2 years ago and cherish it. RIP Les...

If I were you I'd install an alternate pick guard and put that one in protective plastic for safe keeping.

Hi there,

I have a protective UV coated plastic film over the signature. It completely protects the signature and I get to use it!

Thanks for the suggestion though

Cool guitar! :salude

Tell us about the checking.
It doesn't look like the typical X-Acto blade work.

THANK YOU! It's all natural! :rofl

Just kidding...just playing around as some on here like us to believe their aging on their guitar is all real! :hee

I used a hair dryer and got the finish hot enough but not to the point of melting or anything and then used a can of air and just sprayed it until the air was freezing...it caused checking right away and I think it looks killer. If others don't like it I understand and I'm not sure it is natural looking.

It looks good to me and you can only see it in certain light.

The easiest way is to leave out in the cold and bring it quickly into a warm environment. You'll get plenty of checking.
