I just bought 1 of 4 early 80's 2203 JCM 800's that were on sale on ebay.

It's was used by either Tim Farriss or Kirk Pengilly from INXS, some of their stage gear is up for sale.

Comes with 4x12 and road cases and for Australia they were at a good price AU$2000

Pretty happy that i got the amp but also it's sad to see a bit of Australian Rock History come to an end.

Now all i have to do is get them over from the other side of the country

Very nice. Post some pics when you get it. We like pics. Plug into the HI input...where the destruction is.

Congratulations!

I've got a 1982 2203. It's one of the best things I ever bought.

Forget the Hi input, plug into the Lo and crank it!

those early 80's jcm2203's are consistently outstanding sounding amps.I have one.Its my belief that the Dagnall transformers they are loaded with are the reason they sound so good. The 2204's got the drakes of the day which were not as great as the drakes of the seventies and earlier.

Very cool! Congrats! INXS is an awesome band. I've got their DVD concert from the X tour - Live Baby Live - and I think it could be on stage on that tour! Great tones on that DVD. Enjoy - classic Marshall!

I have been looking at a few videos of INXS Live when J D Fortune was in the band and I was thinking that those amps look almost new and very shiny for an 80's Marshall.

Well when the amp arrived the other day and it was a bit of a shock that inside the road case is a 2005 Re Issue not an early '80s head as advertised. The 4 x 12 is definitely early 80's and the road cases have seen all parts of the world.

On the upside it sounds awesome, I don't know if they have been tweaked apart from the power amp direct in mod on the back, but it's one of the best sounding 2203s that I have played through and it's dead quiet, no unwanted noise at all even with my Strat's plugged into it.

It's one of those I'm disappointed that it wasn't and early '80s as advertised but over the moon with the tone.

If you like the sound of the amp, I suggest you point out to the seller that it is a reissue, not what was described, and ask for a partial refund, as a reissue amp is not worth what the amp was listed as (vintage). Many times sellers will do a partial refund in the case of an item that was not as described, instead of going through the hassle of having it returned and re-listing it.
