• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Nice! I always wanted one of those. They're expensive as heck around here!

Nice Marshall amp (especially for your 1st one). And a great score too. Congratulations. Does it have EL-34s? And Celestial G12-65 speakers?

I hear the vertical input versions are supposed to be very desirable. Gary Richrath used to play through those JCM 800 amps, even the 2X12 combos.

Thanks guys, it is a Canadian-export 4104 50w with EL-34s and G12M-70s. I will change out the tubes for vintage, and may change the speakers if the tubes don't warm it up sufficiently. I'm used to old Traynors with Mullards, so it's got a lot to live up to.

Nice! I once had an early 50 watt channel switching Marshall(#4010?) Could never get the levels to be even..clean channel was really wimpy..
Traynors; I have a YGM-3 & YGM-4 and have owned a couple of 50 watt YBA-1's. Traynors are great and there's so much you can do to tweak them if you don't like them stock. Pete Traynor deserves to be recognized just as much as Leo or Jim Marshall..
BTW, I do have a Garnet BTO amp!

The old Traynors are great! Some Garnets are too. BTOs for sure.
I have 2 YGM-3s and a YRM-1, had a YGM-4, YSR-1, 2 YBA-1As and a bunch of YGL-3s.
I also have some Garnets, a '68 'Lil Rock, a 65w Enforcer and a 50w Revolution III 4x10 combo, one of 50 made.

When I jam out, I usually grab a Blues Jr. LoL

Nice Marshall! I had a 1983 JCM 800 combo for a couple of years & kick myself for selling it. Great amps. Congrats!

I absolutely love mine.

Surprisingly versatile, a keeper of the highest magnitude.

I'll take it to the end.

HNAD!

I used the Marshall at a jam I help host a couple weeks ago, and it was great, but last week I took my 50w Garnet Revolution III 4x10 combo, and it absolutely put the Marshall to shame.
The other guitar player uses a Hot Rod Deluxe, and that and the Marshall were occupying the same sonic territory, so it got real loud and muddy... the Rev III owned a different place in the mix and stood out without having to turn up... and it's got reverb and tremolo to die for.
So yesterday I sold the Marshall. Sorry, JCM800, you've been owned.

p.s. I'll try to find a way of posting a sound clip of the Rev III
