Need advice/help on an old Supro amp.

So a buddy of mine has this old Supro combo amp. It's super rough but the cabinet seems to be in decent shape, the grill cloth is dirty and rough but not ripped and still has the Supro logo attached. Doesn't work at all, with tin foil stuffed into the fuse holder from some previous owner.

I've been doing some work around his place and instead of paying me I thought about asking him to trade it. I don't know anything about it other than he said it's probably from the 50's or 60's, looks to have a single 12", maybe a 10" that looks to be shot, and has four input jacks on a brass top plate, amp is top mounted. Looks to be covered in black or really dark navy with a bunch of white lines going all over the place. I couldn't really check it out further and I don't even know if he'd be willing to part with it. He's had it for a while though and it hasn't been repaired yet.

Any idea's what it might be, range of how much it'd take to be reliably usable, and an idea of what it might be worth is it's present rough/non-playing condition.

IMho and ime.... in non-working condition, the amp is not worth anything close to what is being asked in that sale.
IF it were offered to me for sale, I am into it for maybe $100-125 IF the speaker works. One might get lucky at that price if nothing more than fresh electroytics and good general service get the amp up and running properly. ON the other hand, if one has to replace any major component....speaker, PT or OT...the value is greatly affected and one would have as much into it as it is worth after the work was done.
I would want the amp, but I don't give full value for a vintage amp that is not producing loud sound....even if the sound is not goo it has to be appropriately loud before I step off and give more money. Even if the amp makes sound, then there is still some work to be done....and you say it is not cosmetically in Good condition. That affects value, too. thinking about the cosmetic condition, I might not even give as much as I first stated....$75-100 if pushed.

Model 1624T thought to be the Led Zep amp...

That could be pretty cool. There's so much craziness surrounding his amps though. Did some surfing last night and read in a bunch of places it was a modded Coronado.

The pics of the 1624T seem to match up pretty well with what I remember though.

Does Wally's assessment still stand for this model if so?

Chances are, with the tinfoil fuse and not working at all, a transformer is gone. Even with that, and a dead speaker, I'd pay $300. I'd also expect to sink another $300-$400 into repairs.

I'd at least want to take a careful look before I ponied up the money. Dead speaker, rough cab-take 1/2 off the value. OT gone, needs caps, needs tubes, that's another 1/2 off. Even if it is the Led Zeppelin amp (which is a hard sale) you're down to $200 in value and you're going to put $150-200 into it. At which point it will have cost $400 and be worth $400... So, if you really love old amps, and you don't mind owning them for market value, then I'd say $200 or less. If you're going to want to flip it for a profit, $100 seems right.

This guy is great with Valco amps: http://www.valcoamp.com

Our own Terry Mueller is also really good with them, but harder to get ahold of I think.
