• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

New Gary Moore Les Paul announced.

Much as I like Gary, I'd pass on this one.
It's just not a good enough LP at the price point.

It's a non bound, weight relieved, non-rosewood LP.
A studio at the price of a higher end standard.

Gary deserved better. Maybe a Greeney reissue with a GM change or two?

I had a 2001 Gary Moore signature Les Paul. It was a great guitar at the $1300 that I bought it for. I sold it and spent my money on something else when I realized it had become worth twice as much as I paid! It just wasn't that much guitar.

I had two of the originals, great guitars, but I sold mine when they hit $3200.00. I sold one and bought a 50th anni Plain Top RO, for the money, I'm thankful.

When I saw the announcement I thought it would be a CC# or at least a Historic spec model with out of phase etc.

A wasted opportunity to give GM a fitting tribute rather than reissuing an update of his original signature model.

It's about the same price as new Standards, so some guys might love it. It's got some cool features, I hope someone will give a report.

It does lack the flare and inspiration Gary Moore gave me as a musician. I have an '08 Standard that I can make sound like him...well, tone wise, that is. I needs a little hep on the rest...:wah

Non rosewood, Nashburg bridge...

Oh, it is SO much like Greeny....not.

I also had a first issue GM/USA...nice guitar, but really, they had NOTHING to do with Greeny in any way.

Just like this overpriced joke.

you guys are so negitive about anything new, if it doesn't match your specs of whats right. Imagine if you can, a young Gary Moore fan, saving up to buy his first real LP, he comes to this board for insight, and he finds nothing but negitivity. That's what kills off forums. It's funny, some other boards are really happy with what Gibson's doing. Don't bother to flame me, I'll ignore you. It's not just this thread, it's crept into all of them.

With a simple p'up swap, the latest GM LP will be similar to the '01-'02 model that came with Burstbucker 1 & 2's. Plus it had a neck profile similar to an R9.

I LOVE mine even though it's more of a glorified Studio Plus! But man, what a great Studio it is!!

There is so much love for the original model, (that Gary approved of and performed with) that Gibson USA probably wanted to tap into that market again.

Not trying to be negative here, but they should have stuck to the original formula to have a true winner, IMHO.

Good marketing idea: a replica of a replica.

Hope we soon will get a "Goldie Studio" or a "Sandy Studio" ??

Could you really steer some youngster looking for their first real LP to the GM model over a Standard with the same, if not better specs?

If this was priced like the old GM model, I would not have a bad thing to say. I'm even a fan of most sig models.

But, there has to be a value for the money over the name attached to it. This one doesn't have that.

I'd steer a new LP buyer to a better LP if they want the Gary Moore vibe.
