I just picked this up for a really, really great price. IMHO GMP builds some of the best guitars out there but since they don't really do much social media or advertising not a lot of people are into them.
It's a super lightweight mahogany body with a Brazilian rosewood fretboard, Wolftone pickups and it's actually the very first relic Dan Lawrence has offered.
I don't usually go for the relic look and I've never heard of Wolftone pickups but for less than a Gibson USA Special costs I'll take my chances. I have three other GMP guitars and I've not seen anything at any price that really compares to the finish work Dan does, which makes sense. Plus the quality is always second to none.
I have a friend who knows a lot about pickups and he has heard of Wolftone but couldn't give me any feedback on them. I can always swap them out easy enough.
If you don't know about GMP it's a company that Dan Lawrence, who is pretty much the king of guitar finishes (sorry Tom Murphy but facts is facts!) owns. Basically, it's a few people who were builders at BC Rich and Charvel way back when. The most visible person who plays them is probably Neil Giraldo.
If you were alive in the 80s chances are you've seen tons of their work and just didn't know it.
