• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

New Les Paul Tv Special binding separation, wood cracking or normal?

TAKE IT BACK. Forget the flippin' goofy store saga and all the yada yada bing bang. The fingerboard has a faulty glue adherence over the body. Not a binding issue. You don't buy them like that if you bother to do a minimum look see. Quit gabbin and get it gone.

It was obvious, thats why I was encouraging him to put it on a table and press down on the fingerboard to see the gap narrowing. I was hoping he would see that the board had come away from the neck, but he replied with something about spatulas and fingernails. I didn't know what else to say but send the damn thing back for a refund.

As the others have mentioned, this is beyond a normal Gibson QC issue. I'd be returning it. Sorry you have to go through all that. Who needs that stress, right?!

Spatula thing was a joke , got it exactly right though that’s the one you need. Could stick it right in there and have it hang out nice. All you would have to do is stick it in there and pry and the whole fretboard goes bye bye. Taking it in this weekend and no haven’t done so yet lmao. Hard to get around atm. It’s going so far, farther than Jeff bezo. Epiphone factory would laugh at this I think

Get off your Epiphone bullshit. They are not what you keep pushing so knock it off. If you think they are so great get one and go.

Little backstory for the fun of it; while they were fetching the ugly puppy for me in shop I asked if they had a Dsl40cr in stock. I was told no man sorry, oh wait actually we have this defected tolex white Marshall, for 50 off. Had no room in my car for it. Call the store on the way home hey man I was just in there ya know the one with the Les Paul tv special yada yada. “Yeah bro hold on a second, lemme get that for you” type of deal, was retrieving the card and info. Another person answered the phone real snarky like a nerdy-cool guy esque attitude saying “yeah BRO you gotta come in here and do that BRO we can’t do that over the phone BRO” staring at my family member in shock in the car they’re like what’s wrong? I’m like they’re totally rude chicken f-‘ers with an attitude being jerks! Total shock to be honest. Call the 866 line tell the lady what just occurred she was supposedly sorry, got me a brand new Marshall for the same sale price as the defected one on sale in store. However I am suspicious slightly. Why tell me no amp in stock in store; to find two in front of my face a white busted one and a new one? I get an email this morning saying it’s already in stock which I find even more suspicious! So they don’t have any stock but have floor models? But get mine to arrive in less than a day? I called now and asked, if it was new in box or if they’re just giving me the floor model now. Supposedly it’s new. I feel like these guys are absolutely playing games with me now, and yesterday didn’t want my money after spending 1,799 with them plus $40 that day in store on a book, plug, picks. Seems they don’t want to do business to be honest.
What is the name of the shop ? You said it was in Chicago ? Please do tell ?

Man why the hate and disdain? I’ve picked up at least 6 Epiphones and while the setup on one SG traditional wasn’t good, all of them felt great and had great binding, DC Pro beck is similar to the tv special. Les Paul modern was nice too. You ever try them? I have. No complaints other than a poor setup from shipment nothing like this. Speaks for itself maybe.

I've picked up a few recently. The Les Paul was great, the Crestwood was not. In general they are well finished. Good luck with the return process.

Did the Crestwood have fret issues? Seemed like all the Epi's I tried out at GC had serious fret buzzing.

It was more to do with the general setup. Super high action (maybe that was a result of fret buzz...don't know), nut had high string slots, bridge had to be raised right up off the body. It just played yuck. Whereas the LP was smooth and well set up. Different price points I might add.

If you get a chance if you haven't done so already please visit Chicago Music Exchange on the North side of Town . You will love it .
I was there weeks before ordering from GC. Not bad guitars but a lot of bad setups. Tried the DC pro there. Not bad at all.

Returned the sick puppy, full refund onto original method of payment. Gonna shop around yet. Hope the next one isn’t like this.. didn’t take opportunity of the warranty didn’t even want to mess with this again. A nightmare for me.

Ordered an Epiphone Les Paul modern ships 7-12. Hope it’s a winner. Tried one at a different location and was impressed with it. Felt and looked like a Gibson completely.
