• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Ordered New Weber 10A125 / P10Q / 20w / No Doping. Very UnCool to blow original P10R. Also had all the Sprague Cathode Caps. Sprague Filter Caps on the way. Do not want one to blow and take the PT Tranny withit. This thing as is sounds amazing thru my R9 straight thru. But with new speaker and caps. Y cord to my 53 Super or early 64 Princeton w/Brownface circuit......look out. Add a 5V4 rectifier for a little boost with the new caps. Little amps sound best wide open. Hate to blow old parts. Hard to find at the local market..... :note  Also added to new RCA NOS 12AX7's to the preamp.

Nice. :dude:

I suspect you'll like a 12AY7 or 5751 better in the first position than a 12AX7. Never hurts to try though.

Great score. Luxe has reproduction 16 450 and 25 25 caps with paper. You can replace them and still have the vintage look.

Great little amps! Not much clean but from slight breakup to all out rock and roll they sound and record great. And that one's in really nice shape. The other suggestion I have speaker wise is that P12Rs on ebay often sell for less than $100. Why not get the right speaker which sounds the best with the amp (from experience) and just recone it if and when it becomes necessary (but keep the original safely put away)?

Very cool. I have the same amp... number 2110. Pulled mine out of a barn a few years ago. let me know if you need any info for comparison. The 5C3 can be a very special amp.

I have a 12A125 coming 20w / No Dope. Love those speakers. I use them in 2 other old fenders that have 10in. and they sound great. If not will get 12A100 20w/NO Dope. By the way I do have a 59 Jensen P12Q in the closet......MMMMMM.

I have a 53 Super w/Octels. Now both have been recapped. Filter and Cathode.10K filter resisters. NOS tubes and Speakers. Hate to blow original. Y cord 2 together and crank'm. that's why I like the P12Qor P10Q can handle a little more watts and breakup alittle later. I play'm usually pretty much wide open. Thanks!!!

Here's mine, #2781. It has the same 5C3 tube chart with a 5D3 circuit. Fender didn't make a lot of 5D3's since they switched to the 5E3 in 1955.
I bought mine in 1985 and it's been my constant companion ever since.

I have an early '54 with the octals and it sounds great clean or very fat and dirty...there are a few wacky versions of the 5*3 floating around; looks like it was a test bed model for Leo. I kinda prefer a P12Q or P in these as it can handle the low end. I have a few takes of P12R's blowing in the middle of sessions...
