• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Been hankering for a new electric and decided to try out one of the Wildwood Spec 50's models. Just arrived a couple of days ago and I'm very pleased. Fit and finish is top notch. Full disclosure: just a couple of very minor glitches. The salesman at WW actually had his crew inspect the guitar and they sent me pictures of what they found, which I would have not detected at all if I saw the guitar in the shop.

The guitar immediately reminded me in sound of a 2007 R8 that I had and regrettably sold; nasal, almost quacky. A little on the underwound side. Neck profile is very R9ish.

8.5 lbs! My shoulders are digging it. Not really into fancy tops but this one has a vintage, wavy fiddleback look that I wouldn't feel embarrassed about taking to a gig. I've done
a little minor tinkering with pickup height and got it sounding pretty darn good. It came with new strings and I'll probably do a few more adjustments once I get my type of strings on it.

I love it. Nothing wrong with having a pair of bookends. We like what we like and I love the top on the new one. Congrats!

Congrats on the peek-a-boo, enjoy in good health 🎸
Much appreciated! I have to admit, I'm out of the loop. What's the peek-a-boo?

PS I looked it up. Yes, it does have a top that changes in light/angle. It is pretty cool! Thanks.

Very nice! I love the low output Custombuckers in my '54 Oxblood, same spec as yours, I imagine. Get the heights set up just right and it's a fantastic humbucker, IMO.

Enjoy!

Super congrats on a fine new Les Paul day . Awesome color and figure ! I notice in your last image you removed the pick guard . That is the way I like my figured top Burst Les Paul's . How do you like the pickups and her tone ? Play her in great health and rock out !

Thanks, man! The photos look a lot greener than the guitar really is. I used my old iPhone to take the pics. The tight, small wavy figure is my favorite type so I was lucky finding this Paul, especially at this weight. I haven't owned too many Les Pauls in my lifetime.

I really like these pickups. They have a nasally snarl and bite. Don't know if that's all due to the pickups (could be a combo of that and top wood). I've yet to take a reading on the output but will post that when it happens.

Decided to put my type of strings on today and noticed the fretboard was extremely dry so I've been rubbing some oil into it. It's soaking it in like a sponge. I also did the same to two of my other guitars and all they needed was one application. This new one has easily taken 3-4 already. Can I apply too much? I'm using woodworker's lemon oil.

Picture taken right after application. In less than 5 minutes it was almost completely dry.P1010633.JPG

Realizing this is a bit of a necro now, but what a stunning LP! Perfect flame! Awesome Honey Burst!

How about a pic of the back? :)
