• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

So imagine going into a music store for Christmas shopping in 1960 and there sits this guitar and a burst. The salespersons states this guitar is the latest style for the Les Paul model and will make you a modern guitar player for 1961. Who wants this old style les Paul when you can have the new style Les Paul. Before the year completely finishes I want pay tribute to 1960 and the birth of my new guitar, a 1960 Les Paul Standard serial number 0-11186. The pot codes date this to October 1960 and coupled with the 6 digit serial number indicates this guitar shipped in December. So this is like a birthday.

I'll ask this again, anybody know when the pick guards on SGLP Customs went from three screws to four?

...that’s what she said ! ( referring to this SG of course ) :hank

No "SG" here. The only SG model in 1960 was the SG Special that was a double cutaway thick bodied solid body. This guitar is from the Les Paul line that continued to 1963.

Nice score! This one is right on the edge. The 'Dutchburst' Les Paul discovered a few years back has serial 0 11167 and along with 0 11188 and 0 11495 are some the last ones that came with the old style body. Yours falls right in between, making it a very significant piece of Gibson history!
