Two years ago I bought a '54 Les Paul Goldtop Custom Shop. I bought it since it was very good priced and oh so beautiful. But every time I played another Custom Shop Les Paul, I knew my Goldtop wasn't the best one out there. It sounded quite dull and not lively at all. A few months ago I decided to sell it.
I have been looking around for a new Les Paul after I sold it and wanted one that was perfect in every way. I didn't wanted to make any concessions. I tried as many Les Pauls as possible. 58s, 59s and 60s (both Murphy Labs and VOS). Quickly I realised I preferred the bigger frets and the neck of the '59s. I also realised that Murphy Labs weren't my thing (I also don't like reliced Fenders).
I kept searching and trying and last week I found my dream guitar. It is an Iced Tea Burst 1959 Reissue from October '21. I was attracted by the beautiful dark and dense rosewood fingerboard. It is as dark as the Brazilian rosewood on my Fender Jaguar from 1963. I can't remember ever seeing a Custom Shop Les Paul with such a dark board. Although I own it for just a few days, I think it the the best sounding guitar in my collection. Very open and lively. Especially through my Fender Deluxe Reverb from 1966. The pickups are very well balanced (both around 7,7K Ohms).
Attached you'll find a picture of the guitar. If I have some time this weekend I try to make some more images!
Although I have never been very active on this forum, it was very useful. Thank you everyone!
