Needed a solid state amp for home use (because tube amps hiss here). Went for the attached and have to say it's pretty impressive.

The bad, (1) the dials don't do much. Turn them all you like. (2) pretty loud but... could be louder.

The good, (1) tone on both channels is incredible. Celestion Neo Creamback speakers. Sounds better than the 50watt Marshall Origin (Marshall is louder, but by the time it breaks up, it's already blown the windows out of the house). The Orange is superbly crunchy. No fizz.

Oh man, I love it. I recently saw a local 80s hair band cover band, Aquanet, at a casino and one of the guitarists had one of these. I immediately wanted one for gigs. They are a great pedal platform. He is also a guitarist in a national metal band but I forgot which one. He does the cover band gig on the side so he never has to get a real job.

Michael Abdow from Fates Warning. I met him and he is such a humble, nice guy. And he sounds amazing. Watching him play made me feel like I am trying too hard because he has such a delicate touch on the strings. I have never seen anyone play like that. He was just barely pressing down, just tickling the strings and he was obviously not even digging in. He was a joy to watch and I wish I could play like him. He made it look so effortless. He plays Carvin, not Gibson. booo. Just kidding. Play what you like.

I have a small library of Orange....

I use the Micro Crush for travel / mobile as it takes batteries and has a built-in tuner.

I used to have the Micros and Tiny ones pre-positioned in various haunts including the workplace office, until consolidation was required. People who know nothing about music, guitar, or even amp history were either fascinated or frightened by the color scheme and the 'Terror' name, especially post-9/11.

I have an eye out for the Rocker 15 or 32, but have so far resisted the gas, and space won't allow. I have committed to evaluating and pruning before new amps cross the threshold.

Maybe a bit of a ramble - apologies:

I have a 'library' of low watt tube lunch-boxes: Mesa, Vox, HK... also SS: Tech 21, Boss/Roland, plus various tube-amps-in-pedals. I do have some 'complex' floor unit modelers e.g. Line 6, etc. but I find myself in too many editing ratholes!

My thinking was: I found it easier to cycle thru a catalog of scaled-down versions in order to create/re-create a variety tones without lots of adjunct pedal help, or trying to dial-in on a more 'versatile' complex amp... then only bring in the absolute minimum pedals desired; even zero, guitar to amp. Sometimes, I use an amp-switcher.

OK, so I muck around too much ... hopefully more someday! I don't even have a proper pedal board -- just scattered cables and floor space. I will get more organized as I will be building out a music room next year or the year after. I always wanted to learn recording, in that... I live in Noob-City.

Bigger boys are Marshall or Marshall clones, Mesa, Vox, Supro and Fender, employing power-scaling or attenuation.

All acquired before profilers i.e. Fractal, Kemper really came into their own. Also I've never had any complex rack mount stuff. I contemplate selling certain amps and consolidating, down to favorites then get into profilers... on the to-do, maybe, whenever lists.

But see above... I really dig the Rocker 15 or 32!

The "orange" sound is truly it's own thing. I prefer the dirty channel over the JB-2 and the Plexi-tone pedals (which for me is saying something).

I had one of the original 4 x 12 - which was a frightening bugger...



Smoked a lot of cigs and drunk a lot of tea with that bloody lunatic, literally, never a dull moment in his company.

If lower watts are you thing, keep an eye out for a Matamp C7 - rare as hens whatsits, but a fantastic little amp. I sold the last one I had to a geezer in California, must be 15 years ago.
