• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

It's been said, "pics, or it didn't happen." So, here we go. I'm receiving three new guitars this week. This is #1 - a 1998 Les Paul Special SL (the SL stands for "san laquer" from what I can tell). It's a player's guitar. Has been used in the studio, on stage, and traveling. The selector switch tip broke during shipping, so I've ordered a replacement. I intend to play this guitar, not make it what the gun collectors call a "safe queen."

And I *love* the neck! My 2015 has a fat neck. This one has a much better (to me) narrower neck. Nice!

Gibson ships with the switch tip off. The plastic is thin on that small piece and with the center hollowed out for the screw threads it makes it vulnerable to breaks. The case is snug and the tip is at risk of breakage even from long term vibration.

Looks cool and I can hear the mayhem now, TURN IT UP!!!:dude::yah:hank:hank
