I wasn't planning on buying a guitar, let alone this one; but the unexpected ones are the best aren't they?

Purchased originally in '55 here in Edmonton AB, I would be now the second owner; this '55 cannon of an SJ with mojo for days is sure fun to play on.
I'm super happy to have it in my collection.

Onto the pics:

And it, along with some classmate's from the 50's

Thanks. Yeah both it and my ‘56 jr were purchased new in Alberta. Most likely from the same store.

Such a beautiful guitar. Enjoy!
Thanks!

Congrats, what a great addition!
Do you still have your plaintop ice tea historic? One of my favourite tops that I've seen on this forum, always jealous when you did post a pic of her :hee

Nice guitar! Really good that the Edmonton winters didn't pull it apart.

Beauty! I've got to get myself a J-sized flat top! :salude

I own a D-35, and have kinda wanted a smaller bodied guitar as my next acoustic. When this guitar came across my path, it was just too good sounding to pass up.
Couldn't be happier with it.

Congrats, what a great addition!

Indeed. And the stories the family told me of the original owner; apparently quite the boozer and the guitar never left his side. At one point his wife tossed it and all of his other crap out onto the front yard where it spent the night, in the snow.
Needless to say it will live a much gentler pampered life with me.

Very cool, looks exactly the way it should... how about a pic of the tiny "Made in the USA" stamp?

You can barely see the stamp in the rear headstock pic above, but I can try get a better shot later on.

Love the patina of the old guitar, and I can say the same of your Soroking builds- fantastic builds. I wish I could put my hands on one.

Thanks so much!
and it's actually just Sorokin, the "g" belongs to the "Guitars" in the name. :)

The currency for this '55 SJ may have been one of my builds actually.
