Hey all,
Picked this up at the SoCal Guitar show this past weekend. My first historic. Plays, sounds and looks great.
The dealers didn’t have much info on it as they’d just acquired it at the show the day before and hadn’t looked at the pickups or control cavity. Based on the inlays and tuners being parallel I’m pretty sure it is a 2001. Seemed like a good deal and opportunity to get in the R8 game...Hopefully it is what it appears to be…
Looks like the pots and caps have been modified. Both pickups have worn out PAF stickers…I think they were supposed to be 57 Classics.
I emailed Gibson to see if they can send me original specs. It has case candy but no COA, photo or identifying paperwork. I don’t know if it was supposed to have any of it.
Would love to hear your thoughts.
Edit: Gibson Customer Service confirmed it is a 2001 R8 with a Butterscotch finish. And sent me this sheet with original specs. They thought the pickups were stock, but couldn’t really offer any other info.
Thanks,
A
