• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

This gorgeous babe of an axe followed me home today. It's kinda neat for me because it's from the same year I first found and later joined this great LP Forum. Featherweight and sounds as good as she looks!

Thanks! Yeah the top is intense in person as is the almost burgundy color. Neck is very similar to my 2014 R8, wide and substantial.

Wow burgundy is my favorite color, most were washed cherry back then. There was an abundance of good wood back in early 2000's. I have a 2002 R8, still the best top I have seen to date. They had so much good wood they spilled over to R8's. Enough about my guitar - you got yourself a winner. Did the price reflect the era or are they going up in value to keep up with the times?:dude:

Without getting into the specifics of the deal lets just say I spent about what you or me would spend on a new(2014) R8 with a figured top. To me all that reflects is I gotta pretty dang decent deal! Dont know the make or specs of the aftermarket pickups shown but the original 57 Classics are going back on soon along with the original lightweight shiny tailpiece. Whoever bought it originally left a reciept from Dan Erlewines shop in April of 2002 for fret dressing, nut recut and setup and other than a ding on the top below the tailpiece it looks like the guitar hasnt been played much. It plays superbly!

Was hoping to get the guitar back to stock today but the covers on the stock 57s are dinged a bit so I'm holding off on them till I get some better covers first. In the meatime I had some new SD Pearly Gates set with covers installed and so far so good but I havent given them a good workout yet.

Cant get over how the flames dance around and change from different angles. The new pickups will in all likelyhood stay put forever as they sound far better than I would have hoped for. Usually not wild about Seymours but these have got some majorly cool tones in all positions.

Glad that you are happy with it - a very cool geetar! 2001 was the year that Custom cut back significantly on R9 production and raised prices on them accordingly. They got even more exclusive in 2002. :hank
