• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Fellows, I take back a lot of mud I've slung Gibson's way in recent years. This damned thing is a piece of science--and no, it doesn't have the Gforce tuner. I owned a Standard Faded--great guitar except for the awful tuners, but it didn't have the feel or this one. The action is low, no buzz at all. In fact, the guitar was setup and done right. It's ready to play.

It's a 2012 and hasn't been played--shop must have bought it in 2012 and had a hard time selling it because it's left. Man, I got a deal on this--the laminate fb doesn't mean jack shit to me. All I know is that the fret board is smooth, and my hands glide right over it.

The neck is what impresses me the most. Never thought I'd like the 50s neck as much as I do. My hands felt instantly comfortable. Laminated fretboard, shaminated shretboard. It is lovely and smooth, and my fingers love it.

And the thing is beautiful--best of both worlds with the Cherry SB top--has a deep and rich flame at some angles, looks like a plaintop, almost, when looking at it absolutely straight on.

It's weight relieved, and it's very light. I'd say it's probably around 8.5 lbs, if that. I'm no purist, and I really like the weight relief. My shoulder loves it.

I've only had time to plug into my girlfriend's son's Frontman. I reckon my neighbors will be getting an early, New Year's day concert when I blast it through the Marshall JVM410H.

I have played a few 12's and they are great. I didn't even know they had laminated boards, until I came to this forum.

You'd have thought the world was ending all the drama and crying around here in 2012. Looks like a great guitar, even if it is wrong way around!:laugh2:

Thank you man! Hey all the best for your health. I lurk a lot, but I keep good vibes for you, man.

Yeah, I'm so unbothered by weight relief and two piece fbs.

I've had a chance to play it in the meantime, and it matches the LP sounds I have in my head. Of course, I'm in the honeymoon period. Just can't imagine anything could match my ideal sounds any better. I love the crinkle and sting of the bridge pup, the lovely jazz sounds and smooth creaminess of the neck pup. I've always liked the Classic 57s.

Brother I've played a bunch of those , right way 'round of course, to know how very good they are. Factor in how good that looks and you have a great platform to make your own. Finding the sweet spot and dialing it in is so much fun and rewarding. Enjoy the whole process ch willie, it is great. And thank you for the well wishes.:hank

Thanks. Glad you're enjoying yours. I don't know for sure about the pups, but I'll take your word for it. I get some really gutteral tones out of the neck, but it's good and smooth for jazzier things as well.

Update 10 months later. This guitar has been a joy and I'd trade it for no other guitar at any price level. The laminate or whatever fretboard plays well and shows no sign of problems; if banana tree fretboards felt this good, I'd play it. The thing feels so comfortable to me, more so than any guitar I've played. It's my number one although I've been a Fender man for decades.
