• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I had been looking for a 1959 Standard Historic Reissue for a while. I wanted to play it first and I happened to see a local shop's FB post showing the recent acquisition of three CS instruments, including a 2016 CS 1959 Standard Reissue in Iced Tea VOS finish. I was able to go in yesterday play the guitar a bit and Brian and Graham at Brian's Guitars, in Cheshire, CT made me a deal. I'm now the proud owner of this beauty:

Beautiful guitar.

I bought a 2016 R9 in ice tea burst but in gloss recently, absolutely love it.

Would love to see the two side by side to compare the finish.

Enjoy!!!

Very beautiful guitar with a very beautiful subtle top. love it. When you get a chance let us know how she sounds. In that regard don't be like me. I promised the people on this forum that I was going to get back to them when I played my new Mark Knopfler 58. That was close to three months ago and I still haven't even tuned it. But I will one day I swear.

Here's an additional indoor photo I thought really showed off the top.

Congrats on the R8! I had shopped at the Brian's Hamden location once or twice, but never purchased a guitar there before. It was a really great experience. I hope to become a regular customer as it's a great shop!

That's a nice shot Steve! That was on Brian's FB page if I'm not mistaken. I think they said they had acquired all four of these LP from the same guy. If they did he had a very nice collection!

I wouldn't call that a "subtle top", but then I'm a sucker for any nice piece of figured Maple. In my experience photo's rarely capture the depth and movement on a top like that. I would imagine it is real impressive in person. Either way I find it to be very appealing and for my tastes just wonderful. Really, what a lovely Les Paul.:hank:hank

Thanks Al! You are 100% correct, the pictures don't do this top justice. Changing the viewing angle can bring out flame and mineral streaks I hadn't noticed before. Glad you like it!
