• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Thank you very much everybody for your kind replies. There was a very interesting story about how I got this beauty. I was initially looking for a used R9 on an APP specialized for individuals to sell their used items. This one popped up with a really attractive price. I doubted that of course but soon I found out the seller was just 10 mins drive from my place, then I thought why not go there and check it out, it would not hurt just take a look at it.

After I arrived the place I realized that the place was the warehouse of an authorized dealer of Gibson, the seller on the APP was the boss of that dealer. He told me the reasons why he advertised on used item trading APP:

1. Each Gibson dealer has to have some minimum order quantity, especially for those authorized custom shop dealers;
2. Gibson does not allow its dealer to sell at a discount, which means the dealers cannot show a discounted price in their store or website.

In order to sell as many as he possibly can to fulfill the order quantity that Gibson has imposed on him, he advertized on used item trading app, attract people to come with lower price and get the deal done at a discounted price face to face.

I was lucky enough to get a brand new R9 from an authorized dealer at a much lower price.

Sorry for my English I am from China. Thanks again for all your kind replies!

I hear you and it's all fine and dandy but ? and a big but is that if you are shopping used you are potentially buying some one else's used problem . Then factor in some sellers who have no scruples and tell you everything is fine and dandy and the Les Paul stays in tune #1, and , #2 tells you the Burstbucker 1&3 pickups sound great . Then after you receive the R series Gibson Custom Les Paul , the guitar will not stay in tune and the pickups squeal uncontrollably ! Then you are out of pocket 2 grand on top of the purchase price to make the guitar work ! So now tell me how good of a service is provided by the fill in the blank who is really the equivalent of a drug dealer on the corner or from a faceless sale over the internet ? Like a Reverb or a EBAY How is that a good place to shop and spend your hard earned money $ without a factory warranty and from shopping from a Non Authorized Shop ? It is better to form and forge relationships with the shops who are Authorized and Authentic Gibson Custom and Gibson USA dealers who will actually STAND BY THERE MERCHANDISE and who take it PERSONALLY if you have an issue with your instrument and will go to bat and go the distance to make it RIGHT and do the right thing for you . Why ? because they want return business and that is how TRUST is built . FYI, true story as this all happened to me and lesson learned .

You have to know your Historic and know your burst. And well go to used dealers that are reputable. There are plenty out there.
Its not Necessarily someone's problem your buying. Not if you know what your doing.
Believe me ive delt with alot of the reverb and ebay jokers.... yes there are no shortage of people trying to take advantage of the non informed buyer.
New is great nothing wrog there.
I myself was and is no fan of Gibson marketing or there executives and had my clash with both in the past.
The people who make the guitars there there real company

One of the best places to find out about Historics and Burst is right here.
