• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I got this on Saturday. It's my first Gretsch guitar. The Reverb seller saw I was watching it and sent me a reduced price offer that was just too good to pass up.

1966 Gretsch Tenneesean 6119. Came with the original case. She sports HiLoTron pickups. I did what TV Jones suggests and I raised the pole pieces to match the radius of the bridge and I raised the pickups closer to the strings. I must say these pickups sound fantastic. I played it through my '74 JMP, my '60 Ampeg Rocket-12, SLO-30 and my De Lisle Studio 15P. The De Lisle is a nod to a Vox AC15. That's the amp that sounded best for crunch with the Gretsch, especially with a 2000 Nobels ODR-1 with the volume all the way up and the gain all the way down. It sounded best for cleans with the Ampeg.

Excellent!

Congrats, and enjoy in good health. Seems like you are having fund putting it through some paces.

FWIW I have a 66 Lefty Country Gent with original case. The gold was long worn and flaked, and the binding is crumbling in areas. Still a great player. It came all the way back to the States from Australia where it lived most of it's life. Sorry no pix!
