This is a special one. Had to let one go a little over a year ago after being laid off. It was the crown jewel. But I did what I had to do.

Fast forward a year and a bit and finally able to get another. I wasn’t sure if I wanted another but the GAS hit after seeing that classic young Jimmy Page black and white picture of him holding a triple Bigsby Black Beauty.

Arrived very well set up. Haven’t bother restringing it as it plays so perfectly. Only thing is I installed Dunlop strap locks right away. With the Bigsby the stock lower strap button is all but useless and too risky of a strap coming off.

Weighs in at a healthy 9.9 lbs of pure ‘HOG! Neck measures .924 at the first and 1.011 at the 12th. Perfectly rounded shape. Chunky on paper but doesn’t feel too big.

This is easily my brightest Les Paul which seems counter intuitive. Not sure why, but I’m digging and embracing it. Sounds so different than any of my others.

And that middle position is unique on its own. Snappy single coil tone. I’ve never been able to confirm if the middle is out of phase to give it that tone. I’ve also read that the two pickups being so close next to each is the reason but who knows.

Note how the center part of the Bigsby is no longer painted black. My previous one was. Don’t know when it changed but some time in the last year.

The old Page pic seems like it wasn’t painted on the originals either so that makes it a bit less of a bummer. It did look good with center painted around the raised ‘Bigsby’ letters.

Yes, interesting: that's what they've chosen to source, for whatever reason.

Gold B7s are still produced with and without the black paint.

Buy a new one with the black paint. Swap them. Put the all gold one in the new one’s box and return it for a full refund.

Just kidding.

Absolutely beautiful! Delighted for you that you could buy one again.

If you mean because of the weight my heaviest LPs are the brightest too. Not sure what it is but other than shoulder ache I like it!

Would expect all mahogany 1-piece body with no maple cap to be darker. But doesn’t seem to be case. That’s more what I meant.

Deleted - I was showing polarity of the pickups with a compass but don’t think that’s a clear indication of phase. Since just rotating a pickup 180 deg doesn’t change phase.
