• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Found this one over the weekend and wheeled and dealed on her and she's decided to follow me home anyhow. 2011 R9 VOS, 8lbs all stock and nearly new shape. Great C shaped neck carve that's not the least bit chunky or clubby, it feels fantastic and plays superbly. I'll have to get better pictures soon but for now.....

Why, thank you all gentlemen! It'd be cliche' to say she sounds as good as she looks so I'll just report that she sounds even better. Honestly, as forum brother Mars Hall commented on this one after he'd played my 2014 R8 (another sweet axe I might add), matter of fact I forget exactly what it was he said. :## But, it is a slightly brighter sounding instrument, slightly more aggressive and punchy in the mids and upper mids with loads of detail. You just don't want to stop playing and exploring because it does so many things right at one time. And the neck shape which although it's plenty deep has such a nice combination of lack of shoulders and a sweet C shape that I can get my thumb on the fretboard and play it almost like I do on a Stratocaster. For me it's the perfect crutch I needed to get away from my usual demand for the cool but possibly less useful tree trunk necks. And the light weight is a huge bonus for me although how that impacts the tone is debateable since this one sounds as it does at 8lbs and my R8 while just as resonant at 7lb15oz sounds slightly beefier and somewhat darker and without the more forward mids the R9 has. Between just the two of 'em I can hit a bunch of vintage flavors and all so they will get to remain factory stock as is.
