• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I just picked up a 2006 CS 356 with an ebony fretboard. I am loving it. I wanted the Les Paul sound at a lighter weight. This model has a one piece mahogany back and sides that they hollow out and then slap a solid maple cap onto, not plywood.

It’s 7 pounds compared to my 10 pound Les Pauls. At home I only play standing, and my gigs are four hours long with one short break to use the restroom, so I am looking forward to playing this lightweight. We play 80s hair band music and these ‘57 pickups are great for that. I don’t scoop my mids like the 80s though, because I want to sound good.

Oh, and did I mention the giant gold Bigsby?

both are absolutely stunning..just curious, what do these 2 cost.
Thank you very much. Mine was FREE since I traded in gear…that’s true and how I presented it to my wife. The actual price was $4000. Brand new right now they are $5500 without the Bigsby.

Congrats and welcome to the club. Mine's a bone stock 2003 in Quilted Heritage Darkburst out of the limited Stinger run from the old Music Machine store (ebony board, '57 Classics). I'm the original owner and absolutely love this thing. I actually find mine to have a slightly scooped sound compared to what you'd expect to hear from an LP, but to me that makes for an extremely versatile guitar with just a little knob twisting.

2018 CS-336 P90 M2M.
opted for an ABR/Stop TP instead of the wrap tail, Grover Rotos instead of the plastic-tipped 3-on-a-plate tuners and a massive neck with huge shoulders and a 1.031" 1st fret depth, instead of the toothpick '60's neck.
The result is outstanding. Fortunately, Gibson Custom scanned the neck ( and remains on file. The Music Zoo has already done a run of 6 "Monster Neck" Historics based on my neck profile) and was used as the template for my '18 R7 Goldtop and '20 60th Anniv R0, both of which have over 1" deep necks.
