• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I bought this a bit on impulse today because I love the no frills look of it and wanted something with humbuckers (I'm a bit of a Fender man). It was listed as a Les Paul Junior Special for $750, but It seems to resemble the Les Paul Special Faded series. I would love any clarification on this issue! Also, is this model highly regarded at all? I imagine if you're a tried and true LP fan, this one may be a bit Plain Jane for you? Anyway, Id love any comments/Info on this model. Thanks in advance!

It's not a Junior.
It's a Faded or Studio or something.
I'm pretty sure that top carves, binding and grain filler doesn't help bring the toanz.
I've owned and played several Tributes and Fadeds that hung with some of the best I've played.
A particular LP 50's Tribute and an SG Faded both stand out in my mind as great instruments.
I actually like the feel of the pores in the wood on the neck.
Nice guit.

Does anyone know if this model ever came from the factory with a pickguard? Ive seen a few online with Les Paul Standard pick guards with the bracket, but that seems redundant since these are flat bodies and not arched...

not sure, I wouldn’t bother with one myself but do think the pg in Wilko’s post #8 would be the one I’d choose.

No. Wilko's pic is of a 50's style Special, a completely different guitar. You can mod it anyway you like.

I had one of those--it's a Les Paul Special Faded. Sounded monsterously heavy. Had to sell it because it hurt my shoulder to play though. Still kinda miss it!

Mine weighs about 7.5lbs, which is one the reasons I had to buy it. It seems that Les Paul weights in general tend to vary quite a bit in my limited research. I just didn’t want a 10lb guitar no matter how good it sounded. I find it‘s easier to make a light guitar sound better than to make a heavy guitar lighter haha!
