So I guess CS Historic Standards from 2015 and on sound crap.I haven't yet played a Traditional that didn't sound real good. I think it must be the neck joints. There used to be a huge gap between the sound of a short/lame tenon and the historic. Now that line is blurred and must Les pauls sound/feel better for it.
Love the color of yours. I refinished mine to a very similar color!

Settle down sparky, sounds like he is complimenting the quality of traditionals, not bashing historics.
I'm settled. Just thought the point came through as short tenons sound poorer as a fact. Not necessarily true in my opinion.Settle down sparky, sounds like he is complimenting the quality of traditionals, not bashing historics.

well that debate has gone on long enough. Just because some people don't understand the physics, doesn't mean it isn't or can't be a factor.
More often than not, a short, rocker won't provide the same type of acoustic resonance that the different joint of the historic (or vintage). Not saying "better" as many prefer the more focused tone afforded by less resonance.
For my preference, I want a more resonant Les Paul such as the vintage models or Historic.
I was very pleased that the new design short tenons tend to sound and feel the way they do. And yes, I believe I could pass a blind A/B test.
Well, Im pretty sure I couldn't, so there you go.
Most players can't. Doesn't matter that much. :salude
My point is tht whatever they're doing now for these traditionals is noticeably closer to the flagship tone that previous models.
Thanks for all your comments Very nice.
It is definitely not my last Les Paul purchase. The neck is what i have been dreaming about for years, nice and chunky!;-)
I also bought a new JCM800 2203 and a Boss SD-1 thats just an amazing classic rock tone. So timeless and such a beautiful natural distortion!
