So, I found an amazing deal on this R4 from a private seller. Never handled a custom shop Gibson before. It's the finest LP I've ever played. I'm told the darkback is kinda rare on an R4. Don't know if that's true or not, but this is definitely my "Go to the grave with me" guitar!

Edit: tried to post pics, but server wouldn't let me. I'm fairly decent guitarist, but know nothing about posting things online!

Congrats on the new R4. Glad to hear it's a keeper!

Be careful, the Historic Reissues are addictive, the next best thing to the real thing. R6, R7, R8, R9, R0, and Historic ES and Designers may be in your future...

Darkbacks are fewer in number, but not really 'rare' now. They were 'rarer' back then in 2010 and prior, but production since then has escalated to a level where now you can't really call darkbacks 'rare' just 'fewer'.

Pics... 2 methods: you need a hosting site e.g. https://postimg.cc/ that will serve you a image URL, or scale down the size/resolution of your file. Generally, direct uploads need to be sub-800k for the LPF site to accept.

To post pictures I press the button above the text to the right and select Drop Image or Click Here. Then choose Photo Library. The window opens showing you lots of pictures. Choose Options on the lower left. Then select a smaller size, I usually choose large. If it gets rejected just do it again and choose a smaller size. After you select your size you can choose your pictures.

Take a screenshot on your phone of the photo and crop it. It will upload when it’s smaller. I’m a Dark Burst freak. Would love to see it.

Congratulations on this R4 Darkback, it looks like a hell of a find! Darkbacks are actually less common, so you got your hands on something special. Glad it's your guitar “to the grave" — that's the best feeling! Can't wait to see the photos if you manage to post them.
