Hey guys, you will either love this guitar or hate it. I love it. It’s a VOS R7 in what appears to be aged Pelham Blue. The finish reminds me of how the paint on a goldtop looks; you can see tiny metal flakes in the paint. It looks like they sprayed transparent blue over a goldtop.

The hot rod pinstripes are really cool and I like how they compliment the cream plastic. The rosewood is nice and dark with slightly lighter streaks in it. But the best thing of all is that it weighs 8 pounds 10 ounces! 😯

I sort of wanted the pickups to sound mediocre so that I could justify putting a set of Amos pickups in it but the original pickups sound amazing so I am leaving it stock.

I’d prefer it without the pinstripes but it still looks great with them. Love the color.
Congratulations.

Love it as found, congrats. If it plays, it stays.

I think the green wall is interfering with my sense of the color... You said Trans-Blue over Gold? That'd be interesting. Would be greener, I'd wager. To me, this looks more like a Blue Mist (Gibson version of Fender Ice Blue Metallic) than an Aged PB which would be more greenish.

Just spitballing to help the discussion. Pics against a white or flat dark background may help with accuracy; trust your own eyes in person.

Congrats on your fine stable! Looks good next to the 356!

Thank you very much, and I welcome all speculation on the color. I’ll take another picture soon.

Missing from the picture is my R4 BB. I traded it in to get this one. The Murphy Lab finish was flaking off in chunks. It was Ultra Light Aged.

Super interesting, if you really think it's a transparent tint over gold. Otherwise, maybe light Aged Pelham.

I have solved the mystery of the color. I now believe that it is Antique Metallic Teal. It is said to be modeled on Pelham Blue that has faded and aged.

Here is a thread from the other Les Paul forum where a guy bought one.

I found this video of the same year and the same color guitar. It’s my guitar’s doppelgänger but with a Bigsby. The guy in the video said that he thinks they made three R7s in 2019 in this color.

I should mention that the R4 I traded in and this R7 both have the same fat neck. But the R4 had tall narrow frets, and the R7 has lower wider frets. Similar to the Norlin era frets.

I love the Norlin era. I was playing guitar back then but I was too poor to buy a Gibson so I had a Squier Bullet.
