• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

After going through a bunch of Gibson Jumbos, a Dove and a Hummingbird - I stumbled on this Taylor it plays like a dream and has the tone of Sweet Marie - looks pretty hot too - ordered new chrome Schallers with Pearl buttons I think the gold tuners clash with the blue.

I take it that is a maple back? Taylor has done some interesting things. How's the tones now that you've had it a while?

WOW!!!!!

Congrats on a KILLER guitar.

That back is amazing .

My very 1st Taylor guitar I bought was from a pawnshop 2 yrs. ago.

They had no clue to what they had.

Since the guitar didn't have a series number on the inside label, they didn't know how to find the true worth of the guitar.

They were asking $360 + tax, and because it have a few scratches and some very small dents, I got them down to

$270 out the door.

My '03 Taylor Jumbo Custom :

Wow! I've never seen a Taylor so dressed up!
I have several including a 12. The only thing I've ever modded on them is I lowered the action by sanding down the bridge height. Remarkably easy to do. Simply remove the bridge and lock it in a vice with the bottom facing up. The amount sticking up above the vice is what gets sanded away. You can be very precise with this method. It's like sanding a popcycle stick.

Bridge I mean saddle. It just comes right out. No glue. Lotts Taylors come with high saddles. Typically I lowered the saddle .007

Yes it's quilted big leaf maple which is a very soft maple - tone is surprisingly warm and balanced I have a D-28 and Bedell with a quilted mahogany back and an engleman top and the Taylor kills them both - and it plays so easy it's a little scary !!!
