Traded a 68 Custom Reissue for this baby… 54 Custom Reissue with all its staple pickup glory!! The OG of Customs!

It’s definitely a different sound… I’m a little iffy on it but I’ve wanted one for a while. And I’ve got 3 other LPs with humbuckers.

Definitely vintage vibe tones. Early Sabbath… nailed! All ‘hog so I like to think of it as an extra beefy SG with P90s. It certainly has that P90 spank. 🤘

This staple neck pu is unlike anything I’ve heard or tried. It’s sort of bright and glassy in neck pickup terms and has an almost acoustic like sound at low volume or cleaner settings. I will definitely experiment with it. Certainly unique which was the whole point.

Reaaaally nice neck. Measured .917 at 1st and 1.015 at 12th. Perfectly rounded. Smooth as silk.

This one is surprisingly light at 8.37 lbs! I’ve had a couple 57 BB RIs and they were deep in the 9s… Never would have expected this.

Enough blabbing… on to the goods… Very interesting construction on the staple pu too. Hadn’t seen beneath one before…

It was late when I got it set up last night and only played at lower volume through a combo.

But took it downstairs for a proper test… Mother of God!!!!!! Plugged straight in to the 800… So much bark on the bridge!!! Glassy smooth on the neck with volume rolled down. Rolled up the neck has its own gritty flavor!

Super vintage vibes! As mentioned I’m a big Sabbath fan (particularly the early stuff) and this nails that P90 SG Special tone but with more oomph. It’s loud, brash, trashy… not civil! I’m digging it!!

And with its Alpine White Custom sibling…

8.37!!! . My 9.4 54 is over a pound more. Enjoy that guitar. I've had mine almost a year, and it still gets played with a smile on my face!

What a beauty, such a good weight and neck profile, thanks for the pic of the staple pup, never seen a full pic of these rare birds (y)
Also the 'aged' P90 in the bridge, it'd be interesting to see what k ohm measurement it has.
