• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

New Norlin Guitar Day ... I was about to buy a Custom Shop 74 Reissue as most of the real 74's Customs I saw were all banged up....Then I came across this one at Gary's and purchased it.

It is even nicer in person and it looks like someone bought it and played it for a couple of years and then it just sat. It is in unreal condition. Plays great and is very loud. Only 10 pounds.. Gary was great to deal with...

Great find!! And you were wise to grab it. I always loved the sunburst back-sides before the cost cutters came along. I also think volutes are cool.

I bought one back in 73 just like that. I wanted the big hum buckers and extra bling. Aside from the tiny frets I loved that guitar so much I couldn't put it down. Excellent score!:yah

Funny you mention the frets, they are a little different from what I am used to but I will get used to them.

Thanks Big Al hope you are feeling a little better these days :dude:

Thanks the reason I was searching for a 74 is that I had a Randy Rhoads Custom shop guitar. It was one of the best I ever owned. I sold it to help a family member out with a medical issue. I loved the Volute and loved the pickups. I was looking for a 74 in white but everyone I looked at was beat to hell and over priced. Then I was just about to pull the trigger on one of the new reissues and came across this one. I know it looks good in the pics, but it is even cleaner in person. Not heavy very balanced and powerful. The amazing thing is the frets don't have one mark on them anywhere. It is almost like it was frozen in time for quite a few years. I did a setup on it and threw my string preference on it and played it all day.

Love it...

I grew up with the mantra of:
"The HEAVIER the Les Paul, the BETTER!"
My '76 LP Deluxe is ONLY 9.29 lbs on a calibrated scale...talk about a Norlin featherweight!:jim

Beautiful!

I love the sunburst on the back and on the back of the neck, too.

I love the grain on both the back and top. Far more interesting than flame tops... :couch

Looks to be in mint condition. Ya know, I liked everything about them but those knobs. They just don't do a fancy fiddle justice. I know they are correct and all, but I'd go with gold mirrors. Like a 60.

Funny enough Ren, they did that the next 3 some years, mid '75-'78.:salude
