• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

This guy gets good sounds playing through a Mesa Boogie California 'Tweed' ... also some history.

Detailed relic'ing throughout and teardown, with endoscopy video. Of all the ones I've heard, this sounds the most typical of expected ES 355 tones, with clear distinction between settings. Not sure about the other folk's rigs and recording [apart from the guy with the Mesa]; they were trying to capture Oasis sounds but didn't succeed very well.

If interested yes they are $9,999, have found a couple still available since folks are starting to add about 5K to the price on Reverb. My father actually has a 1960 ES355 TDSV he bought for $600 back then. He played it through a Gibson GA55 Ranger RVT which I currently have to use. Although he sold a 1957 3 pick up Black Beauty fretless wonder to get it.

I started another thread about the lack of a true historic ES355. Just wondering why Gibson have never done a full on historic '59/'60 ES355 before... such a shame this one is a limited run as it looks an incredible guitar. I'm not really a fan of Mr Gallaghers but all credit that this guitar has been made.

Come on Gibson, make some more!

The neck angle seems to be as usually on new ES3x5s much higher than on originals.

that neck angle thing has been an issue for the new ES-3XX for a while, and it’s disappointing. What it does do is give them more room to work with if they get construction slightly off, but with modern tooling that shouldn’t be an issue.

The owner Oasis super-fan Richie Moore, a fireman, might need cash given the state of things in Ol' Blighty. Or he's enjoyed it enough and willing to pass it on.

"It’s the second time the Les Paul is up for grabs after it was first snapped up by Oasis super-fan Richie Moore, who once discussed the story of his acquisition with Guitarist."

According to the listing, it remained a “treasured possession” in his catalog, and is in “very good condition”.

The Les Paul has an estimated value of £300,000 – £500,000 (approx. $340,000 – $570,000), and has a current absentee bid of £170,000, which is approximately $193,000.

Gallagher's glittery guitar will be auctioned on November 4. For more information, head over to Propstore Auction (opens in new tab).
