Hey guys,

I got this amp a few months ago, and am just now posting about it. It is a 1956 Fender Deluxe in really good condition. It is my first vintage amp. I have always been very hesitant to buy a vintage amp because I don't know anything about electronics and did not want the hassles of maintenance and such, but then I saw this for sale at Rumble Seat Music. I felt I could trust RSM, so I took the plunge!

The story - This belonged to one of the guitar techs at Rumble Seat, who had owned it for 10 years. He bought it when he worked at Gruhn's. Gruhn's had it for sale and the tech liked it so much that he took the fuse out so that people would think it wasn't working and wouldn't buy it! This gave him time to save up some money to buy it. It is all original with the exception of a recent cap job and a replacement handle.

That's the Holy Grail, is it not? The cleanliness of Fender's wiring layout never ceases to amaze me. Compare that to Gibsons, LOL! It looks like a rat's nest in those Gibsons!

You know, I think every electric guitarist should have one. The defnitive guitar amp, IMO. That's a fine example and sounds sweet in the 335 clip.:hank:hank

Nice! Glad to see you're running old backplate tubes in it, essential-

Gotta have a Tweed Deluxe if you're A true Gibson guy. Your batting 1000% with both 335 AND THIS.

I love tweeds. That deluxe is a super clean example! I'm sure it sounds just to die for with that 335...or really any vintage guitar. Congrats and Enjoy!

Kudos...nice amp. Have you pulled the baffleboard to look at the staples? Imho, that cloth may not be original...if that matters at all. When I see wiggles in the cloth, I get suspicious....middle of the top and bottom.
Side note regarding the former owner or the amp who was a tech at Gruhn's....isn't that the kind of employee one would like to have...for sure?!?

Seriously nice amp.........if you don't have a Tweed Tremolux

Great score and what a smart employee to buy himself some time :salude

As much as I love old Marshalls, my Tweed Fenders can do it all, and feel like a comfortable pair of Levi's when plugged into.
Have owned em for 15 yrs , all Stock and still rocking with zero issues. Use an Amp Preserver for the past 10yrs to get the 110v to keep em happy.

Enjoy with that 335.

Thanks. I have not pulled the baffle to check. The cloth does look like it is in really good condition, so it may have been replaced. I dunno. Rumbleseat said it was all original with the exception of a cap job and a replacement handle. They didn't mention the cloth. Either way, I am not really concerned about it.

Wow! Now that thing looks brand new!!!

Thanks.

'Twas re-tweeded by a previous owner sometime between 1955 & 2015. :salude

I had to replace the original Jensen with a Weber immediately. The magnet shifted or something during shipment from sunny So Cal. :dang

I had the Jensen reconed - it's in a box, and I use the Weber.

The tech told me it wasn't the first recone that'd been done on that P12R...:hmm

Here's the beast in it's natural habitat:

Killer amp! I got exactly the same one, even the same year...! But please be careful with it, I blew the original Jensen P12R and broke the original handle in one month of normal usage! :dang
