I just posted about it in the "Remembering..." section. Really moving to hear Jeff play it straight off the record. A real tribute to Les, indeed.

Where did you post the J. Beck thing.? Also, did you get a look at the tweedamp he was using? Looked like a reissue tweed deluxe??

i have the cd w/beck and the big town playboys...That man can play so many different styles. God bless him. Oh by the way, is the drummer the same guy that plays w/ Paul Mcartney?

Just another confirmation that JB is BAD to the BONE!!! Love the guy. Thanks for sharing. And I would love to see Jeff put an Oxblood back in the rotation...

That was Narada-Michael Walden on the drums. He is in Jeff's new touring line-up for 2010 along with Rhonda Smith on bass (Prince).

Christ that guy has 55 gal barrels of chops just held in reserve!! Just suggest a different genre and he most likely has been there and done it already. I can't think of a guitar player on the planet that could have done Lester anymore justice with that Grammy tribute than El Becko.

Got the Ronnie Scott DVD about a month ago and have about worn it out, it also has several additional tunes that don't appear on the CD like the two with EC. And isn't Tal Wilkenfeld just about the most monster bass players to come around in the last ten years maybe since Jaco. Amazon had the DVD cheaper than the CD it's a must have for any serious Beck fan. It was also shot with a guitarist in mind for a change none of the usual MTV sweaty face shots just lots of El Becko's finger work, like anyone is going to steal his technique. His tech must be constantly replacing his vol pot on that Strat.

The performance looked lip sync'ed to me. Maybe it was just a chorus on the voices. Jeff looked goooood considering how many times he's been road hard and put up wet. That was actually the only thing I saw considering I wasn't invited AGAIN this year. Turned it when all that (c)rap came on. Turned it back just in time to see the Album of the Year award. Was expecting to see Kanye West rush the stage.

Al,

Paul McCartney's drummer is Abe Laboriel Jr., son of the great jazz, fusion, and pop session bass player Abraham Laboriel Sr. Abe Jr. is a great drummer in his own right, and has been with Sir Paul for a while now (did the Super Bowl performance w/ Paul in 2005).

If you get the music channel Palladia, JB is on Live at Ronnie Scotts, in High Def.

I ordered Imelda May's cd after seeing the vids. She should get a Grammy.

Did you notice towards the end as the camera covered Jeff and Imelda, that on the screen above and behind them were Les and Mary, and they were all in almost perfect sync.

Considering Les Paul's legacy of pioneering multitrack recording, it makes sense that the vocals were tracked. That seems smart and very fitting to me.
