• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

OH NO, not another political thread!

I was listening to a talk radio station yesterday, and the had a poll that said 65% of Americans already have their mind made up about who they are voting for. How many of you have already decided?

I've already had my mind made up for a while as well. I am not a fan of either one of the candidates to be honest, but one of them is going to win so I had to weigh a couple main personal factors:
My quality of life is not better than it was 4 years ago.

The economy/employment situation is not better for me.

Other considerations (IMO):
The war on 'terrorism' magically turned into liberating Iraq. The people who masterminded for the terrorist acts of 9/11 are still out there after spending hundreds of billions of dollars. So basically we spent shitloads of money and a lot of dead soldiers for what? Where's Bin Laden?

Civil liberties are being violated in the name of 'national security'.

The Halliburton contract deal.

The healthcare/insurance industry is a complete and utter clusterfuck. Millions of Americans can't even afford basic health insurance (me included).

Jobs are leaving the USA at an alarming rate, and nothing is being done about it.

Mergers, downsizing, and deregulation have reduced competition resulting in less choices and less job opportunities.

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm more worried about having a job and insurance than I am about being blown up by a terrorist.

It's going to get very interesting now with Edwards on the Dem ticket. One thing to consider is that there won't be many people that voted for Gore last time that are going to switch to Bush, there are a lot of people that went with Bush the first time who won't go for him the second, and Nader will be less of a factor IMO. It may not even make a difference for Bush if he comes up with Bin Laden. I think a lot of people are really disappointed and disillusioned with him. Even some of the conservative leaning pundits.

I didn't vote for him and I wouldn't.

Unlike a lot of people here, party lines do not make a damn bit of difference to me, I never considered myself one or the other. It's just the way things are going presently, something needs to change.

I've got a paranoid-conspiracy-theorist voice in my head that says that Bush's organization has Bin Laden brought on board and will parade him around just in time to win the election.

I think that even if they do, it won't guarantee them ANYthing.

I think that the American people are actually starting to see this administration for what they really are. And that maybe 1 term is 1 term too many.

Dave,
I understand your concerns. However, I just haven't heard Kerry address a single one of them and tell us how he'd do anything different and/or better..... :toobad

And I'm like you....I'm not a Republican or a Democrat..... :bh

Kerry's campaign is so far like the OJ defense. All he's got to do is keep his mouth shut and let bush do what he will.

Right now Kerry looks like the lesser of two evils. Maybe he isn't.

Yeah, but in my scenario, he's living the high life in some private compound drinking cocktails with little umbrellas.

After some mock "trial" he'll be placed in some sort of "detention" with similar cocktails. In coconut shells with big slices of fruit. In some private island or something.
